From 14 to 29 November 2026, Matanzas is once again the centre of the windsurfing world. The Chile World Cup, part of the world wave tour (IWT/PWA), brings the planet's best windsurfers to the Navidad coast, in both men's and women's divisions. According to local media, this year the Chilean stop will also be the grand final of the 2026 season, where the world champion would be decided.
Why Matanzas
Few places combine steady wind, long waves and an open beach like the coast between Matanzas, Pupuya and Topocalma. That's why the world tour has come back to this area in recent editions, in 2024 and 2025. In spring the southerly wind blows hard almost every afternoon, and the ocean delivers the waves that make Matanzas one of the world's great wave-windsurfing destinations.

How to enjoy the contest

- Watch from the beach. Heats run when there's wind and waves, usually in the afternoon. Bring a windbreaker, a hat and warm layers: the spring wind is cold.
- Follow it day by day. Each morning the organisers decide whether there's a contest and where, depending on conditions. In 2025, for example, the final was held at Topocalma, a few kilometres south. Check the tour's social media before you head out.
- Take your time. It runs for two weeks, with contest days and waiting days. Days without wind are perfect for beach walks, cycling or simply staying on the terrace.

Where to stay
Quadro is on Camino Matanzas a Pupuya, facing the sea and minutes from Matanzas beach and the spots further south. From the terrace you see the whole bay: when the wind picks up, the sails appear on the horizon.

Navidad expects athletes, teams, families and visitors during those two weeks, so it's worth booking early. Our cabins sleep 4 to 6, with a full kitchen, a terrace with a grill and a sea view from every room; three of the four have a private hot tub, perfect after a windy day.
